1. The Booking and Entourage Anxiety
Do I really need an appointment at Darianna® Bridal & Tuxedo?
Yes. This ensures you get a dedicated stylist and a private fitting room. If you’re thinking of walking in and trying on, it is advised to call first before making the trip. Our store books up several weeks in advance and even though our store is large enough to do multiple at a time, the reputation and national exposure we have garnered keeps us booked consistently in all rooms. We do keep a wait list. Pro Tip: Book 3-4 weeks in advance for weekends.
How many people can I bring with me?
We allow bride plus four (+4) guests as the norm. Arrangements may be made in advance for larger parties, however fewer voices mean less confusion for you, especially on a first visit. Bring the people whose opinions you genuinely value and who will uplift you, not stress you out.
Often we have brides bring 1-2 people, then have a large group come in for an abbreviated appointment with three dresses, the last dress she comes out in is her yes dress! Its a great celebration and allows the bride to choose her dress in a more focused manner, but then include everyone to share the moment.
2. The Budget Reality Check
Can I find a dress under $1,500 in the Philadelphia suburbs?
With us you can! Our made to order dresses start at $1,300. If you are sticking to a stricter budget, enjoy our year-round off the rack sample sale. Be upfront when making your appointment, and check out our Sample Closet – it changes often.
If you’ve got your eye on a specific dress, don’t blink because they move fast. Additionally, if you really are on a budget, don’t try on an expensive gown “just for fun.” Stick to the sample rack in your budget! At our store, you have a lot of choice in all budgets and sizes.
Does PA charge sales tax on wedding dresses?
While Pennsylvania is tax-free for everyday clothing, bridal gowns are subject to the standard 6% PA sales tax. (If you buy in Philadelphia, you’ll pay an extra 2% as city tax!)
Some think buying in another state will save them money – we’ve seen the trick. Trust us, do your homework. Many stores in neighboring states with “no sales tax” (like New Jersey) have a price tag higher than PA, and it’s often higher even with PA tax included! Price match before making the trip.
3. Bridal Sizing and Fitting Room Fears
What if the sample dress doesn’t fit me?
This is the number one source of anxiety for brides. Here is the absolute truth: Sample dresses will not be a perfect fit. The good thing about Darianna® Bridal & Tuxedo? We are size inclusive 4-32! If the dress is too big, your stylist will use clips to cinch it in. If it is too small, we will insert privacy panels or use bands to pull it closed and give you a better idea of the shape. With our inventory, you will be able to try on dresses very close to your size.
Note: *Some boutiques only carry samples in bridal sizes 8 to 12 (which translates to street sizes approx. 4 to 8). This limits some brides and they may not have the best experience. Be sure to refer to the store’s website or call ahead. If you are plus, ask specifically how many plus size wedding dresses they have for try on. (At our store, it’s at least 75 gowns in sizes 16-32!)
4. The Timeline Crunch
How far in advance do I need to buy my dress?
If you are ordering a new dress (not buying off-the-rack, a/k/a “special order”), you need to order it 9 to 12 months before your wedding. Production and shipping can take 4-6 months. Once it arrives at our Bucks County bridal shop, you still need 2 to 3 months for alterations. If you have less than 6 months, you will likely need to pay rush fees or shop off-the-rack. At Darianna® Bridal & Tuxedo, we can check shipping in real time for you.
Note: While other stores may automatically charge a rush fee if you are less than 6 months out, it may not be necessary. Be sure to ask for the shipping date!
Are alterations included in the price?
No. Whether you buy in the city or the suburbs, alterations are a separate, independent cost. In our store, you can expect to pay anywhere from $300-$600 for standard alterations (hemming, taking in the bodice, and adding a bustle). The cost fluctuates based on the skirt layers needing to be hemmed, hem lace edging, number of bustle points (hooks or buttons required), and additional adjustments like take ins, strap or sleeve adjustments, changing cup sizes, etc. In the Greater Philadelphia area or at private studio locations, expect to pay anywhere from $500 to $1,000+.
Note: Do your homework before committing to any seamstress. Read reviews, get a quote, and ask your questions to be sure you feel confident with any custom tailor before committing to the service.

About Us
Darianna® Bridal & Tuxedo is owned by Franco and Wendy Salerno. We founded the store in January, 2013 with a mission of running an honest, kind, and family-oriented bridal and tuxedo business. The name is a combination of our two daughters, Daria and Deanna. Today, our business is a Bucks County staple and the go-to place for wedding attire. Our long-time employees are kind, genuine, and truly part of the family. The lasting relationships we have made with customers, vendors, and designers are something we are truly grateful for.

Our store received national recognition in July, 2025 on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. In 2024, Darianna® Bridal & Tuxedo was named a Top 100 Small Business in America by the US Chamber of Commerce. We proudly partner with St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Angel Gowns, Wish Upon A Wedding, and donate to local schools and community band, choir, and theater programs.
