Winter weddings are becoming more popular every year in the Philadelphia region and we cannot wait to introduce you to some of the new gowns in our gorgeous collection of Winter Wedding Dresses.
There is something magical about winter weddings. Romantic and cozy, the snow outside and fires inside create the most perfect atmosphere. And with the new year, it is the perfect time to tie the knot! So if you are a bride looking for ideas for winter wedding dresses, read on!
What Dress Should a Bride Wear for a Winter Wedding?
Every bride wants a dress that feels like one of a kind. Generally, in the Philadelphia region the weather in the winter is cold. You could even get some snow to add to the magic. This lends to gowns that have more coverage, such as high necklines, long sleeves, and luxurious fabrics of a heavier nature like satin or lined crepe.
Accessories like fur wraps, capes, or added fur to the sleeve cuffs are great ideas for that unique touch which we will discuss as well!
A winter wedding dress can be the simple elegance of a clean sheath or a grand and regal sparkly ball gown. This is where you can take into account your wedding venue, formality, and your personal preferences.
Winter Wedding Dress Fabrics
Satin is a popular bridal fabric, and is ideal for a winter bride. Satin, whether a Dutchess or Mikado, is heavy giving the perfect shape to a ball gown. Its luminous glow works beautifully in winter.
Our other top fabric pick for a winter bride is brocade. This unique fabric is seeing a total comeback in bridal fashion, loved for its jacquard, or raised pattern, that is woven into the design. This stiffer fabric has a heavier weight, making it ideal for a winter wedding dress and is great for more structured designs. Absolutely timeless, classic, and stunning.
Lace is always appropriate. Consider a heavier pattern and make sure the bodice is lined. Sleeves are a bonus!
Crepe is clean and also heavy making for beautiful blank canvas for perhaps a crystal belt or diamond jewelry to mimic the glistening snow.

The Best Necklines For A Winter Wedding Dress
When selecting the perfect neckline for your winter wedding dress, we say the higher the better! Neckline styles like mock necks or delicate bateaus are a great choice to keep you covered and comfortable while still looking totally chic. High neck wedding dresses have been trending, and we’re not surprised. The style feels timeless and regal, especially paired with a ball gown silhouette.
You can certainly have a strapless gown, as these require the gorgeous accessory options of luxurious faux-fur capes and wraps.

Beautiful Sleeve Styles For A Winter Bride
While we love a strapless style, it might not be the most suitable for a winter bride. Cold temperatures require more coverage, especially when it comes to sleeve styles for a winter wedding dress, so long sleeves or three-quarter sleeves are ideal choices.
Lined long sleeves will provide the most warmth, but there’s something delightful about illusion long sleeves as well. If you fall in love with a sleeveless dress, you can always add sleeves or a jacket to add warmth to your winter wedding dress. High neck, long sleeved gowns are appropriate. They are timeless design and sophisticated. Some of our wedding dresses that fit this description are this high neck Essense of Australia and the heavy lace of Kitty Chen’s Keisha.

Simple Winter Wedding Dresses
You can have a casual winter wedding that still feels elevated. Perhaps at an upscale restaurant or a snowy cabin destination complete with a fireplace and candlelit atmosphere. This cozy and romantic ambiance requires the perfect romantic silhouette to match. A simple winter wedding dress is the perfect choice.
Think simple wedding dresses in a thick crepe. Modern wedding dresses in clean lines and classic silhouettes like column or sheath gowns with a simple veil would be ideal. Lined lace gowns, either soft and un-beaded or those adorned with delicate details like crystals and pearls, work nicely for this type of aesthetic as well.
If you are looking for a simple yet fuller A-line silhouette, this is easily attainable with a dress equal parts detailed and plain. Some great options are:

These are perfect for modern brides. Off the shoulder dresses with elegant long sleeves in jacquard and crepe are classy and appropriate, as is a high neck column dress with intricate details in the lace pattern.
Formal Winter Celebrations
If you are having a winter black-tie wedding, make a grand entrance in a glittering gown with a fitted bodice and voluminous skirt. Accessories like a cathedral-length veil and long gloves will add the perfect black tie glam factor.

Pairing the Perfect Accessory with Your Winter Wedding Dress
Once you’ve found the gown, you need the perfect accessory to add the finishing touches to your winter wedding dress.
A veil in any length with any details to perfectly complement your gown. Add in a crystal head band or rhinestone barrettes for a wintry shimmer. A cape with fur, either to cover just your arms or a full floor length with hood, is the perfect winter wedding dress accessory
Gloves are incredibly popular, and we can see why. From classic opera-length gloves to more trendy styles, gloves are a fun way to add something extra to your gown.
