We met Daneene Jensen almost four years ago at a bridal show when she offered to do our models’ hair and makeup as a demonstration. It was brilliant. It worked for us to have our models looking amazing and for her to show her incredible skills. In about 20 minutes she turned one from pretty to Vogue photo shoot.

Q: How did you get your start in bridal hair and makeup?
A: I worked as a hair and makeup artist in the print, film and video industry for many years. I enjoyed it, but it was extremely demanding on the schedule with much travel involved. When I got married, I was finding myself home only a few days a month due to the shooting schedules of the catalogs I did hair and makeup for. When I had my first child, now 11, a photographer suggested that I get into hair and makeup for bridal parties. I took on a few weddings the first season and decided that it was a great fit for my growing family.
Q: You have some well known clients, do you prefer bridal?
A: Thank you! Yes, I truly do! I love being a part of a bride’s special day and knowing that they will likely remember us for the rest of their lives. Having a bride get teary-eyed at her trial when you turn her to face the mirror, or pop that veil on her head is one of the most touching things to witness. It is a honor to be the partial cause of that reaction.
Q: When is the best time to get a hair/makeup trial?
A: I suggest doing it approximately 3-4 months prior to the wedding.
Q: How long will it take for hair and makeup on the wedding day?
A: It really depends on the client, but typically it takes our senior artists between 30 and 40 minutes per service.
Q: Are there any “trends” or requests that just don’t work or that you would advise against?
A: I am never a big fan of anything terribly trendy for wedding beauty. Classic and timeless is the safest and most beautifully bridal way to go! Have a look at our website, Facebook and Instagram pages for ideas.
Q: What sets you apart from other stylists?
I take enormous pride in this team, and we all take enormous pride in our work. It is equally important to me to have artists that are not only outstanding on an artistic level, but genuinely good, patient, sincere individuals who take pride in delivering the utmost level of customer service. I worked very hard to build the reputation of my business and therefore I take extreme care in who I hire.
Every one of our team members was a direct referral from another team member. They are kind and considerate individuals. I value the team immensely and believe they regard me as not only their boss, but as a friend. Q: What is your advice to brides?
A: Referrals from friends are a great way to start your search, and reviews speak for themselves. Brides today are wedding planning in a very convenient age where you can get referrals from lots of others online. Book a team with a great reputation, then do a trial run before the wedding to insure you and your artist are in sync.
