A city located in Delaware County, Chest is one of the largest regions of Delaware County. Situated along the banks of the Delaware River, and between the metropolitan areas of Wilmington, Delaware and Philadelphia, Chester was originally settled by Swedes in the mid-17th century. It once served as the county seat, and became famous for its Union naval shipyard during the Civil War.
