Q&A With Finley Catering

Do you need a place to host your special day? Consider choosing one of the five Finley Catering venues in the Philadelphia area.

Darianna Bridal & Tuxedo is proud to have relationships with some of the best and most well-respected venues in the tri-state area!

We are excited to have tapped Kathryn Phillips of Finley Catering for some insight into each of their gorgeous properties, along with a few other FAQs that can help guide you when choosing a venue.

They host not only weddings, but events with guest lists that include Presidents, dignitaries, and celebrities. And let’s not forget that one of their properties was featured in an iconic scene of an Academy Awarded nominated movie.

But beyond all of that, they are the one of the finest caterers you will find anywhere!  Read on to find out more.

Finley Catering has spent 38 years combining extraordinary food and superior service with an elegant atmosphere to give clients the wedding of their dreams.

When you entrust your special day to Finley Catering, the cuisine will be unparalleled, the service impeccable, and the memories unforgettable!

We work personally with you to turn the reception that you’ve envisioned into a reality in one of our five ballrooms.

The Crystal Tea Room:

Located just steps from City Hall in the heart of Philadelphia, the grandeur of The Crystal Tea Room is sure to take your breath away. It’s an unforgettable wedding venue for your once-in-a-lifetime event, able to accommodate 180-500 guests for a wedding. Cocktail hour is held in the atrium to give guests the feeling of being outdoors before heading into the dreamlike ballroom for a reception under brilliant crystal chandeliers.

The Ballroom at the Ben

Part of our lineup for more than 20 years, The Ballroom at the Ben recently underwent $1.5 million dollars of renovations. This venue can accommodate 180-350 guests for a wedding. You and your guests can enjoy cocktails and hors d ‘oeuvres on the mezzanine overlooking the palatial Ballroom.

This location might be familiar to moviegoers: it’s the site of the famous dance scene between Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper in the movie Silver Linings Playbook.

Union Trust

The Union Trust offers a touch blend of the old, regal Philadelphia mixed with a vibrant new pulse. You’ll marvel at its soaring, 65-foot illuminated engraved ceilings, architecturally accented walls, and a breathtaking balcony that overlooks the entire venue.

Union Trust features multiple private rooms, can accommodate between 120 and 180 wedding guests, and is also a popular venue for corporate events.

The Ballroom at Ellis Preserve

Mark your calendars for fall 2016, when our newest location — the Ballroom at Ellis preserve — is set to open.

Located in Newtown Square, Delaware County, the Ballroom features an outdoor setting for ceremonies, as well as a stone patio for cocktail hour, a great complment to our grand ballroom.

The Ballroom at Ellis Preserve can accommodate up to 250 guests for your wedding. Our cocktail room is also a great location to host your bridal shower.

The Clothier Room

Feast on delicious menu selections in an elegant Main Line setting at the Clothier Room. This one-of-a-kind wedding venue offers you the optional of an attractive outdoor wedding, with the perfect backdrop for photographs.

The beauty of your wedding here will be matched only by the impeccable personal service and attention you’d get from a catering company with more than 35 years of experience.

We wanted to know more, so we sat down with Finley’s Kathryn Phillips for a Q&A.

Darianna Bridal:  What is the best Finley property in which to host an outdoor/summer wedding?

Kathryn:  Ballroom at Ellis Preserve would be perfect for outdoor events with its pastoral setting and beautiful views.

Darianna Bridal:  What about a winter/holiday wedding?

Kathryn:  That would be Ballroom at the Ben!

Darianna Bridal:  And for something like Gatsby?

Kathryn:  Union Trust would be perfect with its 65’ engraved ceilings and a fantastic balcony, it was the original Union Trust Company Bank built in 1888.

Darianna Bridal:  Would any of the properties be suited for a rustic/informal theme?

Kathryn:  All of our venues are formal ballrooms that are more suited to Black Tie Affairs.

Darianna Bridal:  How far in advance do you suggest booking one of your venues?

Kathryn: We suggest booking your event about 18-20 months out. We have already had a few bookings in the peak months of 2018, so we recommend looking to book at least a year and a half out from your desired wedding date.

Darianna Bridal:  What is the best advice you can offer to couples to alleviate stress associated with their reception?

Kathryn:  Enjoy the wedding process as much as you can!  At Finley Catering, you have an event coordinator working with you from the first meeting when showing you the venue, to the final day when you arrive at your wedding. The event coordinator is there to help you through the entire planning process and help alleviate any stress you may have. We want you to enjoy planning one of the most exciting days of your lives as well as make sure your dream wedding is brought to life!
