As natives of the Philadelphia region and members of Delaware Valley chapter of The Chaîne des Routisseurs, we are always heading into the city for food. Whether a happy hour, brunch, lunch, or dinner, we are blessed with some absolutely superb restaurants. One of our favorite Italian restaurants for many years has been Osteria Philadelphia.
Osteria, To Us
I remember the first time Franco took me to Osteria when it opened in 2007 for my birthday (I remember very well because he gave me a first edition Kindle that came out that year!). At that time I had not been to Italy (yet) and it was my first real indication of what authentic Italian food tasted like. I was hooked.
We still go often for happy hour in the bar area off the main dining room and it is the perfect place to just chill for a bit. The kind staff and excellent service make it even better. And this past March 2025, our Chaîne chapter had a Medici family themed event, family style manner, in the glass-enclosed patio. Franco was dinner co-chair. It was 100/10. So good I still think about it.
Anyway… they do weddings at Osteria.

If you’re looking for a venue more intimate and modern, with literally the best food from Chef Jeff Michaud, give serious consideration to an Osteria Philadelphia wedding. Chef Michaud has won a James Beard Foundation Award as Best Chef Mid Atlantic. Whether you are looking for private dining services, family style approach, holding your wedding ceremony there, or enjoying Osteria’s private kitchen table, we can personally attest that you will not be disappointed.
For all the details about celebrating your wedding at Osteria, we asked the private events manager Suzanne Rossini! Here’s a Q&A with all the info you need:
Tell Us About Osteria Philadelphia
Osteria has been part of the Philadelphia dining scene since 2007, and there’s a reason people keep coming back. We’re rooted in Northern Italian tradition with handmade pastas, wood-fired pizzas, and bold, comforting flavors. But more than that, we’re about creating a sense of celebration around the table. Over the years, we’ve grown into a space that feels just as fitting for a quiet Tuesday night as it does for a beautiful wedding reception.
Tell Us About Yourself
I’ve worked in restaurants most of my adult life. I started in service, moved into events and operations, and I’ve been fortunate to work in a range of venues from tiny chef-driven spots to larger restaurant groups. I’ve always been drawn to the events side of things. We love the logistics, the emotion, and the storytelling that comes with being trusted to help celebrate someone’s milestone. Joining Osteria was a natural step for me. The caliber of the food, the soul of the space, and the way our team works together really aligned with what I value in this industry.
What is Your Role
I manage all private events at Osteria, including weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate gatherings, and special occasions. My role includes touring, information, contracting, and managing the entire events team at Osteria. I serve as the main point of contact for clients and act as the bridge between them and our restaurant. Every event is unique, and we take pride in making sure each one feels effortless for the host and memorable for the guests.
Why A Wedding at Osteria Is On Trend
Couples are shifting away from traditional ballrooms and are leaning into venues that feel more authentic and intimate. Osteria strikes that balance beautifully. The food is exceptional, but it’s the atmosphere that sets us apart. The Greenhouse is romantic and full of character, the pergola is ideal for an open-air moment, and the entire space has a thoughtful charm without feeling overly curated. We don’t do cookie-cutter events, and I believe that is what continues to drive our popularity.
Venue Spaces and Capacities
We offer a variety of room options and spaces to suit different group sizes and event styles.
- The Kitchen Table offers seats for up to 14 guests, perfect for mini rehearsals and super-intimate post-elopement dinners with friends and closest family members.
- The Wine Room seats up to 35 guests. It’s cozy and classic, perfect for rehearsal dinners or little receptions.
- The Greenhouse is our largest private space, seating up to 65. It features glass walls and ceilings, lush greenery, and direct access to our pergola. This outdoor patio can be used for a welcome area, cocktail parties, or mingling space depending on the season and setup.
- For larger groups, we offer Full Restaurant buyouts. The entire restaurant rental can accommodate up to 120 seated guests or more for a standing-style event.

Event Customization
We work with a curated family-style approach, but there’s some flexibility within that format. We accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies whenever possible. For event setups, we work closely with planners and florists to make sure the space reflects each couple’s vision and flows well for the event.
Booking Process and Lead Time
For weddings, I recommend reaching out ten to twelve months in advance of the date, especially for weekend dates during peak seasons. Rehearsal dinners often require less lead time if they are smaller events. The process is straightforward:
- First, you inquire with your date and estimated guest count.
- Then, I send over availability, space details, and the food and beverage minimum.
- Once you’re ready, we confirm your date with a signed agreement and deposit.
- From there, we work together on menu selection, timeline, layout, and any personalized details.
Other Celebration Packages
In addition to wedding receptions and rehearsal dinners, we can host your next:
- corporate event
- birthday party
- bridal/baby showers
- holiday party
- engagement celebration
If it’s a gathering built around food and connection, we’re a great fit.
Additional Services
While we don’t offer full-scale wedding planning, I guide our clients through every step of the planning process and coordinate directly with vendors. We also maintain a list of trusted vendor partners who know the space well. Our team handles food, beverage, service, and event flow, and we are deeply involved in making sure every detail comes together seamlessly.
Guest Experience
Creating a memorable guest experience is at the heart of what we do. From the moment someone walks into the space, we want them to feel welcomed and cared for. The ambiance is warm and dynamic with music, candlelight, and the energy of an open kitchen. Our staff is professional, thoughtful, and attentive to the details that elevate an event. Whether it’s anticipating a guest’s request or keeping a dinner service perfectly paced, we’re always focused on hospitality.
Availability of Outdoor Spaces
The pergola is one of our most unique features. With climbing vines, string lights, and a natural garden feel, it’s the perfect addition for a Greenhouse event. It shines in the spring, summer, and fall as additional space for out weddings.
Wedding at Osteria – Entertainment
The Greenhouse lends itself well to more intimate setups, like acoustic musicians and curated playlists. For full buyouts or larger events, DJs are absolutely an option. I always guide clients through what will work best for the space and enhance the flow of the evening. Sometimes keeping entertainment simple can make a bigger impact.
Cuisine Types
Our focus is Northern Italian cuisine, with dishes like house-extruded pasta, braised meats, and vegetables. Our menu shifts hyper-seasonally and our chefs are constantly working on their next move. Osteria is versed in seasonality and keeping the menu fresh.
Your Favorite Past Event
One of my favorite weddings was a full-restaurant wedding celebration with a jazz trio, an abundance of timeless white florals, and glowing candlelight. The couple kept their guest list small so they could truly focus on food and wine. It was refined but never overdone. There was so much care in every detail, and when they finally sat for their first course and just exhaled, I knew we had created something meaningful for them.
