Featured Wedding Dress: Floriana by Morilee

Meet: Floriana

Designer: Morilee

Why we love her:

Floriana by Morilee definitely has it all; sparkle, lace, buttons, tulle…everything! Yet her design comes together in such a way that it all works in perfect harmony. She is a beautiful blend of classic details with modern features. Everything about her will have brides shouting “yes!” the moment they put her on.

Floriana has a sweetheart neckline held up by crystal beaded straps. Her bodice is adorned with mixed beading on top of Alençon lace. The Alençon lace is regal and elegant; motifs of swirls, leaves, and roses decorate Floriana and her train. The unlined bodice is supported by boning, which helps give her structure as well as a corset-style look. Exposed boning is trending right now, but the classic silhouette and embellishments make sure that Floriana will stand the test of time!

Fit-and-Flare Silhouette

Floriana’s fit-and-flare silhouette gives brides an opportunity to highlight their curves while still guaranteeing dance-ability all night long. She is fitted through the bust and hips but gracefully flares out above the knees. Brides will love the mobility they have in this gown while still giving the dramatic, fitted vibes. She also has a tulle skirt that is sparkly and fun– a layer of glitter tulle gives her a constant, fine shimmer.

Everything about Floriana is stunning from the front, and it doesn’t stop there; her back is absolutely mesmerizing. The beaded spaghetti straps connect to the bodice in a gorgeous, scooped low back. Open backs are highly requested by today’s brides. The dress closes up with a timeless row of buttons, flowing from the scooped back line down to the flare of the tulle skirt. The Alençon lace cascades down the train, which is cathedral-length and fit for royalty. The combination of gentle sparkle tulle and the Alençon motifs creates a beautiful visual when brides walk down the aisle! From every angle, she exudes elegance and regality.

She’s perfect for:

Brides looking to bring a little something-something to an otherwise traditional style. The unlined bodice, exposed boning, and low back all add flares of modernity and sexiness, while the modest neckline and traditional lace patterns keep Floriana timeless and classy. This dress is a perfect match for venues like ballrooms, designer hotels, and country clubs. Because her lace design is not overtly floral, she works well with fall and winter weddings.

What makes her special:

For brides who love the little details, special meanings behind things, and some fashion history, Floriana is definitely a special gown! Alençon lace, the type of lace on this beautiful Morilee wedding dress, has a fascinating and rich story. This type of lace originated in Alençon, France in the 1500s, where it was all hand-made; by 1675 it had been established as a favorite for royal wedding dresses and other formal gowns. It has even earned the name “the queen of lace”. Alençon lace has been a favorite of royalty and the upper-class for decades because of how luxurious and beautiful it is!

While the lace on Floriana hasn’t been hand-crafted by nuns in France, it recalls a time of exquisit, high fashion, hand-fashioned dresses. Any bride who wants to feel like a queen should add Floriana to their “must-try” list!
