Featured Darianna Bridal Bride: Jessica Carter-Rudnet

Jessica called Darianna Bridal & Tuxedo after spotting one of our Enzoani Jordan bridal gowns.  As soon as she tried it on, she knew this was the dress she’d wear when she would marry her best friend, Jim Rudnet.  We invited Jessica to tell her love story here.

Our Meeting:  Jim and I met working together at Longhorn Steakhouse during college in Warrington, PA.  He was a bartender and I was a hostess.

The Proposal:  During our first vacation together in the Bahamas, Jim proposed to me on the balcony of our hotel room overlooking the beach.  I was completely shocked, I didn’t even know he was looking for rings!  We spent the next 5 days in the Bahamas celebrating.

Our Ceremony: We wanted a Catholic ceremony without the difficulty of going back and forth from church to reception. We found St. Miriam Church which allows a shortened Catholic ceremony outside of an actual church.  We met Father Joe and he was exactly what we wanted, humorous, kind, and easy going, while also still incorporating Catholic beliefs.

Our Venue:  We (I mostly) wanted a winter wedding and December is my favorite month. When we found the Downtown Club in Philadelphia, nothing else compared.

Our Themes:  I love everything black, so it was a no brainer I would pick black for my bridesmaids gowns.  I let them choose their own dresses because I loved the idea of each of my bridesmaids having a dress they picked out.  They were all so different and matched their personalities.  We also included our two dogs – Bear and Shelby – we had a cake topper with their silhouettes, an ice sculpture of them, and of course they were on our save the dates!

Our First Dance Song: “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” by Elvis Presley.

A Twist:  I wanted a cold December wedding, but got a sunny 70 degree day!  It turned out

to be absolutely perfect as none of my bridesmaids were cold, none of the groomsmen were sweating, and my family who came from Florida was thrilled. It made for great pictures, too.

My Special Something Old:  My Grandmother wore a charm bracelet every day that had a charm for each of her grandchildren and their birthday.  My aunt made me an ankle bracelet with my charm.

Special Thanks: Most important was my Mom.  She helped me so much and I couldn’t have done anything without her.

I had the best bridesmaids who made sure I was laughing and having fun the whole time, even when I made them go all the way to New Orleans for my bachelorette party.  I hope everyone has bridesmaids like I did.

My grandmother was also the most generous person during this whole planning.

My Dad.  I showed him a picture from Pinterest a year before the wedding of a huge wooden hanging circle that I wanted to hang the table assignment ornaments on.  He made it for me!  It turned out better than I could have imagined.  He is the BEST!

And to Jim, thank you for all the fun and exciting things we’ve done and what is still to come
