This beautiful cobalt blue tuxedo called “Greenwich” will stun you! The jacket is made with super 120’s ultra luxury fabric for comfortable, all-day-wearing. The trim fit jacket has a bright but classy cobalt blue color with a contrasting black satin peak lapel. The one button tuxedo jacket has a side vent and has double satin besom pockets. We love the black satin accent on the pockets.
How Should I Accessorize This Tuxedo?
I don’t like to give too many personal opinions about how to wear tuxedos because everyone has different tastes and their own personal style. However, I am co-founder of Darianna® Bridal & Tuxedo and have worn many of the 70 tuxedos and suits we have available for rent and sale. I also speak to thousands of brides, grooms, groomsmen, mothers and fathers in our store and learn a lot about their tastes. Not only that, I get to see all of our customers in many different variations of accessories and tuxedos. That gives me inside access and ideas of what looks best.
Having said that, you have two different color choices of pants with this tuxedo. Below I explain what I see, what I prefer, and how often customers choose one color over another.
Black Tuxedo Pants
I will be honest. I prefer black tuxedo pants with this tuxedo. Why? Because I think there is too much cobalt blue when you wear a cobalt blue jacket, cobalt blue vest and cobalt blue pants. There is no break in the color when all of the colors are the same. I really love the vibrant royal blue color but too much of the bright color, with the jacket, pants and vest, can look overwhelming to me.
Ike Behar makes a beautiful pair of black tuxedo slim fit pants with a quarter inch line of satin running down both sides of the pant legs. The pants are classy, comfortable and match perfectly with the black satin lapel of Greenwich.
Alternatively, if we are sticking to black tuxedo pants, a great option to consider is that Ike Behar makes a pair of skinny fit tuxedo pants with the same quarter inch satin running down the side of the pants. The more fashion forward groom often chooses this modern fit pants. We hem the pants slightly shorter in this case and the groom wears our patent leather slip-on loafer so he can show off some sock or ankle!
Our experience is about 98% of our grooms and groomsmen choose the black tuxedo pants for this tuxedo. When choosing the black tuxedo pants with this jacket, we often recommend the matching cobalt blue vest. It is a good choice because when the wearer takes off his jacket, there is still a splash of color while wearing the black tuxedo pants.
Cobalt Blue Tuxedo Pants
The Cobalt Blue tuxedo pants that come with Greenwich are made of the same color and fabric as the cobalt blue jacket. If you are looking to keep your look more uniform, then we suggest the matching cobalt blue pants. There is no satin on the pants and they are trim fit (not skinny fit).
When choosing the cobalt blue pants, we often see grooms and groomsmen choose the cobalt blue vest to have continuity of color and uniformity of the tuxedo style. And we recommend black shoes with either pant choice.
Final Personal Thoughts
When Darianna® Bridal & Tuxedo first made this tuxedo available for rent, I personally wasn’t a huge fan. This was about 6 years ago. Why was I not a fan? The vibrant color of the cobalt blue was a bit much for me. In addition, I thought there was too much contrast between the cobalt blue and the black peak lapel.
Over the past few years, I have personally purchased our Ike Behar navy suit, our Erik Lawrence French blue suit and our Ike Behar Yale blue suit. I wear these suits often to our store and see how striking the brighter blue colors are. I am now a fan of the brighter blues. In addition, after dressing many bridal parties, grooms and groomsman in this tuxedo, I have seen first-hand how amazing the wedding photos come out with the vibrant blue. I for one will most likely wear this tuxedo to my next formal event! I am completely converted!
And this is would be the right style for me if I chose this tuxedo: I would wear the cobalt blue tuxedo jacket with black peak lapel, microfiber white dress shirt, black satin bow tie, black satin pocket square, matching cobalt blue vest, Ike Behar slim fit black tuxedo pants with quarter inch satin on side of pants and patent leather shoes.
