About Montgomery County
Often referred to locally as "Montco," the 487-square-mile Montgomery County is an incredibly diverse region located just northwest of Philadelphia. Although it’s largely a suburban region, you’ll find everything from urban communities packed with rowhomes to wide-open rural farmland throughout the area. Valley Forge National Historic Park, which played a crucial role in the American Revolution, is a must-see Montco attraction, although you’ll also find fantastic shopping scattered around the county, and a few truly unusual sites as well. The high-end King of Prussia Mall, for instance, is one of the largest shopping malls in the entire county. The Beth Sholom Synagogue in Elkins Park is a little-known Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece. And in the small borough of Ambler is the world’s only Three Stooges museum, the aptly named Stoogeum.
