The Denim Blue Ridge

actually captivated our brides and grooms and it became an extremely popular style for both renting and purchasing. In fact, it was the 5th most popular tuxedo and suit rented for autumn weddings so the numbers prove how popular!

When customers come into the store, they ask if the Allure Men Denim Tuxedo is made of denim. This is obviously before they see the actual suit on our mannequin. The tuxedo is not made of denim, rather a light-weight wool blend that has the color of denim. It is a two-button notch lapel jacket and has a matching denim vest and slim fit pants. The designer also offers a matching denim colored bow and long tie as a perfect match to the color and texture of the tuxedo.

Why a Denim Tuxedo?

So why do we think this tuxedo is so popular with our brides and grooms? Because the color and texture are different. When you first look at the fabric, it has a somewhat casual look to it.  However, the wool-blend fabric has a luxurious and comfortable feel to it, along with some other details that will surprise you.

Tuxedo Details

Most tuxedos have satin on the lapel, pockets and buttons.  This particular tuxedo has plastic buttons, similar to a suit and no satin. Instead, there is a stitching that lines the edge of the lapel that emulates a satin border, without having any satin.  It’s essentially a quarter inch border stitched on the lapel to look like satin piping.

Many grooms and groomsmen who want to look formal enough for the wedding but not too formal strike an excellent balance with this tuxedo. The lack of satin, plastic buttons and more relaxed looking fabric provide enough casualness for the wedding party but don’t make it look like you are under dresses for the occasion.

Ike Behar Tux Details

Having said that, Ike Behar created Romeo, a beautiful double-breasted version of his black peak lapel tuxedo (link that blog).  This tuxedo offers the same ultra luxury 130s fabric for the double-breasted jacket, slim fit pants, skinny fit pants, V-shaped vest or scoop vest.

This is a perfect tuxedo for a larger man looking to hide some girth.  The tuxedo, if properly fitting, also works well with a slim person.  Traditionally, double breasted jackets do a wonderful job of making someone look slimmer and more streamlined. 

We have seen this many times over when a customer tries on a double-breasted jacket in our store.  When the customer looks in the mirror and sees how fit the jacket makes him look, he usually immediately rents one of our double-breasted tuxedo jackets.

We recommend patent leather shoes with Romeo because they are more formal and classic.

Double-Breasted Tuxedos

While the number of people renting double-breasted tuxedos is currently not as high as our standard tuxedo jackets, we are seeing an increase in rental rates as the year progresses.  This is certainly a style that we see more in the autumn and winter months because of the extra fabric involved with this type of jacket.  We are also seeing more fashion forward or trendy-conscious customers are gravitating to double-breasted styles.

However, still and probably always, the standard-bearer when you think ‘classic tux’ is black. Today, we are featuring one of them: “Jackson” from Ike Behar, a gorgeous (and dare we say sexy?!) black peak lapel tuxedo. 

The Jackson

is a one button tuxedo jacket with a full satin lapel, satin buttons and satin lined pockets. It is made with a very comfortable ultra-luxury 130s fabric, making it breathable, soft and wearable all day.  Most grooms are stunned by how easy to wear this tuxedo is.

Tuxedo Accessories

Most of our customers wear a vest or black suspenders, however we like to pair Jackson with a traditional vest for a more formal, contemporary look.

As for pants, Ike Behar offers two slightly different pairs of pants with this tux: slim fit pants with a quarter inch of black satin going down each side of the outside of the legs.  The pants are also offered in a skinny fit version.  While the slim fit style is perfectly modern and adequate for most grooms, some like a more tapered look and choose the skinny version of these pants.  Both pants are made with the same luxurious fabric matching both the exact color and texture of the jacket and available vests.

With the classic Jackson tuxedo, we prefer shiny (patent leather) shoes. 

Of course, patent leather shoes provide a more formal look but some of our customers prefer matte finish, non-shiny shoes.  Matte finish shoes are also acceptable to wear with tuxedos.

Autumn is one of the most popular times of the year to get married in the Philadelphia region.  

It is no surprise that Philly area brides and grooms love getting married in the fall.  The weather is pleasant, the changing colors of the fall leaves are beautiful and the cuisine of the season can’t be more comforting with the cooler temperatures.

So once again, we analyzed the most rented suits and tuxedos for Autumn in the recent past and the upcoming Fall wedding season.  Since we have over 70 different styles of suits and tuxedos available for rent, it’s challenging to predict which ones will be most popular, just like our blog on the top 10 tuxedos and suits rented for summer, we were surprised by some of the front runners.

How Did We Determine Our Top 10 Autumn Tuxedo & Suit Rentals

At Darianna® Bridal & Tuxedo, we love technology! It helps us serve our customers better and certainly assists us in running our business.  In fact, we were featured on Apple’s website on Apple News for our use of technology, so we are pretty fussy about making our technology work for our customers and us!

Fortunately, we have a computer tuxedo and suit rental ordering system that allows us to run reports on all of the tuxedos and suits we rent. With just a few keystrokes, we can have a report ready to show us how many times each of our 70 different styles of our tuxedos and suits were rented during a specific period.  We ran a report that showed which styles were rented between September and November.  Overall, we rent many thousands of tuxedos and suits every year, so we have plenty of data to come up with meaningful results.

Equally important, we then took the top 10 suits and tuxedos rented during the stated period. We added the total times each style of suit and tuxedo was rented and had 10 separate totals. Finally, we divided the total for each style by the total number of rentals for all 10 styles. That gave us which percentage each style represented of the top 10 styles. If you look at the below pie charge, as an example, the Ike Behar notch lapel black tuxedo was rented 42.9% of the time of the top 10 styles.

What follows are the most requested and rented suits and tuxedos for fall weddings.

We love crunching the numbers because every time we are so surprised by some of the styles and colors that come out on top!

Number 10 – Allure Men Grey Tuxedo

At number 10, this textured grey Allure Men tuxedo had been much more popular for many reasons. First off, grey tuxedo offerings and choices have grown in popularity in the last 9 years. This Allure Men grey tuxedo was one of the first available. Nearly a decade ago, there wasn’t a lot of choice for grey.

While the tuxedo’s fabric does not have a pattern on it, the texture of the fabric does give an ever changing look as the groom and groomsmen move around in the suit. The fabric is considered ultra luxury. It is one of the softest and most comfortable tuxedos we have for rent as well. This is important because temperatures and weather in the Philadelphia region in Autumn can vary widely. One day can be 80 degrees and sunny, and typically later in fall, we can experience temperatures in the 50s or 60s. The notch lapel has a quarter inch of grey satin and the tuxedo comes with matching grey pants and vest.  This tuxedo can be worn with brown shoes or black shoes. This tuxedo was rented 3.4% of the time for out top 10 rentals for Autumn.

Number 9 – Ike Behar Charcoal Grey Tuxedo

Never a surprise that an Ike Behar tuxedo makes the top 10 list, any time of year! This designer is known to make suits and tuxedos that fit perfectly. The fabrics are always high-end and comfortable and the slimming design makes everyone look great. This charcoal grey tuxedo has a black peak lapel, matching charcoal pants and vest. 

At first look, many of our customers think the tuxedo is black because the grey is so dark. However, a closer look of the lapel will show you it is clearly a grey tuxedo. This is a great alternative to a black tuxedo if you are looking for a classic look that is not black. This tuxedo was rented 3.9% of the time.

Number 8 – Ike Behar Brown Suit

Coming in as the 8th most rented suit for Autumn weddings, is our Ike Behar brown suit. I personally own this suit for many reasons! First off, I have never felt such a comfortable and luxurious fabric in a suit.  In addition, you need to see this suit in person. The color and texture are amazingly beautiful and seeing it in person really shows the fine beauty of this suit. 

The notch lapel, warm brown color, matching vest and pants are perfect for corresponding Autumn colors. The other reason we suggest seeing this suit in person is because most people like the color and texture but about 5% of the time, customers will see a photo the suit, like it and then when they see it, not be keen on the texture of the fabric or the true brown color. While it is a very small percentage of brides and grooms, it’s always prudent to examine suits and tuxedos in person. This way, you can feel the fabric and get a real look at the color. We always tell our grooms, groomsmen and fathers that it’s a long day and we want to make sure you are comfortable in the fabric that you cheoose! This suit was rented 4.1% of the time.

Number 7 – Ike Behar Navy Suit

The 7th most rented and worn Autumn tuxedo or suit is our Ike Behar navy suit. Once again, a luxurious fabric with a beautiful dark blue color. The notch lapel navy jacket comes with matching navy pants and a vest. We usually recommend this suit with brown shoes. But it can be worn with matte black shoes as well. This suit also comes in a tuxedo – but for those looking for something less formal than a tuxedo, this is certainly a wonderful choice. On occasion, we will have a groom wear the tuxedo version of this attire and the groomsmen wear the suit version. This helps the groom look a little different and more elevated.  This suit was rented 5.5% of the time.

Number 6 – Ike Behar Black Shawl Lapel Tuxedo

Coming in at number 6 and rented 6.6% percentage of the time is our Ike Behar shawl lapel black tuxedo. This one was a little bit of a surprise because we find that the shawl lapel is not as popular as notch and even peak lapels.  This is an older style lapel.  Personally, I like the old-school look but it’s not for everyone. 

At first glance, this is a classic black tuxedo with a satin lapel, satin buttons and satin pockets.  The only difference is the rounded edges of the lapel. Before we ran our autumn rental report and analyzed the data, we would have never guessed that this would have made the list. Now that we see the results, we are finding that black tuxedos have become much more popular in the past 2 years. This tuxedo could certainly make your wedding photos timeless!

Number 5 – Allure Men Denim Tuxedo/Suit

Since becoming available for rent and purchase, this tuxedo or suit (more about that later!), has been wildly popular! This popular autumn tuxedo represents 6.9% of the top 10 rentals. Here’s why we think it’s so popular: The fabric has a denim, more casual looking color. The garments are not made of denim, but rather it has a dark blue, denim color. Most of our grooms want to dress up for their wedding. Although their wedding details may not be as formal, so this one works perfectly!

This suit/tuxedo has features seen in both a suit and tuxedo! It has plastic buttons and no satin like a suit, Nevertheless, it has stitching on the notch lapel to emulate a satin border like a tuxedo. The texture of the fabric is more casual but still elegant. Our grooms love the combination of looking somewhat formal for their wedding, yet still having a casual vibe.

Number 4 – Ike Behar Peak Lapel Black Tuxedo

While we have always offered peak lapel black tuxedos, this one is our first Ike Behar. For those looking to do something slightly different, this may be your best bet. Some grooms don’t want the standard notch lapel tuxedo and others don’t want the old-school shawl lapel tuxedo. This is a great compromise because it’s different yet classic. Of the top 10 Autumn tuxedos, this one was rented 7% of the time. 

As with all Ike Behar suits and tuxedos, the fabric is very comfortable and breathable and the fit cannot be beat.

Number 3 – Ike Behar Navy Tuxedo with Black Peak Lapel

Rented 7.5% of the time, this Ike Behar navy tuxedo with black peak lapel comes in at number 3.  This tuxedo has the same exact fabric, color and texture of our Ike Behar full navy tuxedo and full navy suit.  The only difference is the style and color of the lapel: peak and black.  We often see grooms wearing this tuxedo while the groomsmen wear the full navy tuxedo with the satin navy notch lapel. (See number 2 in this blog.) This helps differentiate the groom without making everyone look too different. 

The only word of advice we give our brides and grooms is: black shoes (either patent leather or matte finish) would be more appropriate with this tuxedo. Brown shoes would not really work because of the black lapel.

Number 2 – Full Navy Ike Behar Tuxedo with Notch Lapel

Our Ike Behar full navy tuxedo with notch lapel has been incredibly popular since the day we offered it.  No surprise here! The luxurious fabric, the navy satin on the lapel, buttons and pockets make this an amazing tuxedo. Not to mention the beautiful dark navy fabric. In a recent tuxedo appointment, one of our brides and grooms did something many do: they chose this beautiful tuxedo for the groom and the groomsmen will be wearing the Ike Behar full navy suit for this autumn wedding. The groom will look slightly more formal with this tuxedo, while the groomsmen will look very similar yet not as formal with a suit version of this tuxedo. 

This tuxedo was rented 12.3% of the time when it came to the top 10 autumn tuxedo and suit rentals.

Number 1 – Ike Behar Notch Lapel Black Tuxedo

For those who prefer the smooth, rounded look of a shawl lapel, take a look at our Chandler black shawl lapel tuxedo by Ike Behar.

Coming in at number one, or 42.9% of the top 10 Autumn tuxedo rentals is our classic Ike Behar black notch lapel tuxedo. As mentioned before, we have seen black tuxes trending for the past 2 years. Several years ago, navy, grey, and cobalt blue tuxedos and suits had been extremely popular. However, more recently, black has really taken over. Why? Brides and grooms have been telling us that they are looking for a timeless look. A black tuxedo will certainly help with that. This tuxedo has full satin on the lapel, buttons and pockets. The jacket and pants are slim fit. The pants also come in skinny fit. Additionally, many of our grooms permit each of their groomsmen to decide between skinny fit and slim fit pants. The fabric can’t be beat. It’s soft, breathable and comfortable. This is important because autumn temperatures can vary widely.

For most people, choosing a tuxedo shop to rent or buy your tuxedo or suit can be confusing because it isn’t something you shop for often and every store offers something different.  Your needs and wants will drive where you choose, but there are certain basic things to consider before walking into a store or searching online.

1 – Read the Online Reviews

One of the most helpful ways to help choose your tuxedo shop is what the online reviews say!  The opinions and details from past and current customers can be very helpful.  They provide a feel for the courtesy and professionalism of the staff, how the owners run the company, and what level of services you will receive.  Of course, anyone who works directly with customers understands that you can’t satisfy everyone.  Legitimate businesses that serve enough customers will always have bad reviews.  If they don’t, then that alone is a red flag about the legitimacy of the store’s reviews.  Our suggestion is to read the reviews and “read between the lines.”  Are the customer comments reasonable, and are the issues being discussed important to you.  Also, is what the customer saying completely true?  Remember good and bad reviews can be exaggerated, not just bad reviews.

That brings us to the next related topic: the store’s review response.  Read some of the responses to understand how the store and owners are.  Are they compassionate, diplomatic or argumentative?  Let’s face it, we are all human and mistakes happen.  How did the store handle the customer in the review response when the customer perceived that something went wrong?

2 – Number of Tuxedos and Suits Available

Preferences in styles and tastes for suits and tuxedos can be very vast.  Satisfying those tastes require a decent selection of tuxedos and suits.  It also requires adequate inventory of long ties, bow ties, vests, shirts, pocket squares and shoes.  A lot goes into dressing up in a tuxedo or suit and you want to make sure you have the choices that can fit your vision.

In the last couple of years, a few of the big box stores that provide tuxedo and suit rentals and sales have filed for bankruptcy.  While they are still currently in business, the bankruptcies have limited their ability to finance adequate inventories and to purchase different styles.  Many of Darianna® Bridal & Tuxedo’s customers shop to see what some of these big box stores have to offer and tell us they have four to seven different tuxedo and suit style choices.  Our store has 70 different styles with about a thousand different accessories!

Make sure the store has what you are looking for in terms of style and color.

3 – Responsiveness of the Store

Find out how helpful and responsive the store is. You can get an idea by reading online reviews, review responses and talking to the store directly, either in person or by some other means. Do they make it easy and fast to communicate with them? Do they offer an online chat? Can you text the store’s telephone number or message them via Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp?

With technology, there are many ways to communicate with a business.  In our blog, Communicating With Your Bridal Store, we go over the many ways you should be able to contact your bridal or tuxedo shop.

Also, when communicating with you either in person, by text, by phone or messaging, how did the store make you feel?  Were the employees kind, patient and accommodating?  Were they fun or witty? You are getting married and this should be a fun process!  You can tell a lot about how a business will treat you based on how they speak with or communicate with you.

Most importantly, how quickly is the tuxedo shop responding to you when you make an inquiry.  Your wedding is a very important day, you have a million things to do and you want a response that is timely, polite and easy.

4 – Recommendations from Past Brides and Grooms

Every bride and groom who has been through the process of dressing the groom, groomsmen, ring bearers and fathers for their wedding may be able to give you insight into formal wear stores that they visited.  Ask your trusted friends who they suggest.  Remember, opinions from others are like online reviews: some are accurate, others may not be, so again, read between the lines.

5 – What Other Services Does the Store Provide?

There are many things to consider when dressing everyone for an entire wedding party.  Everyone is busy and you need a store that will provide processes, procedures and systems to facilitate everyone’s order.  We rent and sell thousands of tuxedos and suits every year and we can honestly say that not all wedding attendees are as responsive to their wedding duties!  Some are late in getting measured, others are late in making their deposit or payment and some wait until the last minute to pick up their rental.  

You need a store that will follow up when some of your guys are not responsive to getting measured, paying or picking up.  For instance, our store calls the bride or groom when we are having a challenging time getting a hold of one of your groomsmen but this takes time and not all stores will accommodate that need.

FAQs

Also, what if you have out of town guests?  How does the store handle that?  There are special considerations when helping out-of-town wedding guests. At Darianna® Bridal & Tuxedo, we will find a place for the person to get measured anywhere in the country for free, and the groomsman can submit his measurements to us online!

Does the store allow anyone in your wedding party to text, chat or communicate with the store in a seamless and easy manner?  This is very important when trying​ to coordinate 7 – 10 people in your wedding party.

Final Thoughts

How This Blog Was Created

Darianna® Bridal & Tuxedo has an electronic system that we use to manage all of our tuxedo and suit rentals. Essentially, at the click of a button, we are able to see how many of the 70+ tuxedo and suit styles we offer for rent, were actually rented any time of year.

It’s A Philly Thing 🙂

The lighter blue color with the high-end 120s wool blend is perfect for a warm weather event or wedding.  The pants, jacket and vest are truly slim fit.  The designer, Ike Behar, is known for designing suits that look like custom suits no matter what your body shape.  We don’t know how the designer does it but we can confirm that Franco, the owner of Darianna® Bridal & Tuxedo, wears an Ike Behar suit almost every day of the week because of the comfort, fit and quality.

Everyone of our grooms and groomsmen wore one of our two brown shoes that we have available with this suit.

The only explanation as to why this suit was not more popular is probably because this suit comes with a scoop vest only.  Some customers are not as keen on the scoop vest as opposed to the regular V-shaped vest.

Number 9 – Michael Kors Tan Suit

This tan Michael Kors suit has been quite popular for several years now for both summer and destination weddings.  The fabric is comfortable and the look is embraced by those looking for something a little more casual.  Still a slim fit, notch lapel suit, it can be worn with or without the matching vest.

Of all of the summer’s most popular tuxedo and suits rented, this one was rented 5.4% of the time.  And of course, the color goes perfectly with brown shoes!

Number 8 – Allure Mens Grey Tuxedo

Coming in at number 8, this ultra luxurious and extremely comfortable grey tuxedo is popular among those looking to beat the heat.  The high-end wool blend fabric almost feels silky and is very thin and breathable.  The slim fit tuxedo has a notch lapel with a quarter inch of satin edging on the lapel.

This particular tuxedo can be worn with brown or black shoes, although most of our customers are wearing brown shoes with it.

This tuxedo was worn by 6.2% of all of the most popular tuxedo and suits for summer.

Number 7 – Allure Mens Sandstone Tuxedo

This beautiful tan tuxedo by Allure is both luxurious and comfortable.  While it does not have any satin on it, it does have stitching on the lapel to emulate the satin outline.  It also has fabric buttons.  We have found that those who want a more formal look and prefer a tuxedo to a suit, this is their go-to wedding attire.

And of course, we always recommend brown shoes with this tuxedo.

This tuxedo was worn 6.8% of the time of all of the most popular summer suits and tuxedos.

Number 6 – Allure Mens Cornflower Tuxedo

This light blue tuxedo perfectly fits a summer wedding theme. Furthermore, the luxurious fabric is comfortable, breathable and handsome.  The tuxedo has a slim fit notch lapel jacket, matching slim fit pants and a beautiful vest.  We typically recommend our light brown shoes with this tuxedo but after thousands of rentals of this style, we can say we’ve seen a couple of our grooms choose our matte finish black shoes.

Exactly 8% of the top 10 suits and tuxedos renting for summer, rented this style.

Number 5 – French Blue Suit

Our French blue suit is the biggest surprise of our number crunching.  We call this a “dark, bright blue suit!”  We had no idea that this suit would have made this list for top summer wedding attire.  The color is very handsome and distinctive.  Now that we think about it, the shade of blue photographs well and that may be why it was rented 11.7% of the time for all top 10 summer tuxedos and suits.

Number 4 – Ike Behar Grey Austin Suit

Our first peak lapel suit on the list, this Ike Behar grey suit is not too dark, not too light.  Our darkest grey suits and tuxedos would probably be too dark for a summer wedding.  This shade of grey is right in the middle between our lightest grey suit and tuxedo available for rent and our darkest ones.  We feel that it’s a good compromise between dark and light suit rentals.

The fabric is very comfortable and the fit can never be beat when it comes to this designer.  The trim fit pants provide a streamlined look.  There’s no wonder this one was rented 12.2% of the time for our top 10 most popular tuxedo and suit rentals.

Number 3 – Ike Behar Light Grey Griffin Suit

This Ike Behar suit is the same style as our number 4 suit above, however a shade lighter. Similarly, it is often worn in very warm weather in July or August.  Some of our customers have rented from us when the Philadelphia region was experiencing warm summer temperatures in the first two weeks of September as well.

Again, this luxurious fabric is light, breathable and very comfortable.  Depending on how hot the summer weather gets, we’ve had customers wear this with or without the matching scoop vest.  

Of our top 10 suits and tuxedos renting for summer, this one has been rented 13.8%.

Number 2 – Michael Kors Light Grey Tuxedo

Some of our brides and grooms want a light grey tuxedo for their wedding in the summer.  Coming in at number two, this is often the grey tuxedo that they rent for the summer wedding.  While this notch lapel tuxedo does not have a lot of satin on it, it still exudes a formality not seen in other options.  The light color is perfect for summer and the soft and smooth fabric will help keep the groom and his groomsmen cool on a hot summer day.

This very popular tuxedo was rented 14.9% of the time.

Number 1 – Ike Behar Tan Suit

Absolutely no surprise here! 

This beautiful Ike Behar tan suit is perfect all around.  The fabric is more luxurious than most tuxedos out there, and it’s a suit!  There’s enough detail on the jacket to add some fancy flare but still keep it classy and simple.  This is always a perfect summer suit for a wedding, as a guest, groom or groomsmen.  Customers are always surprised how light and soft the fabric is on this suit.  We always have customers touching the jacket on our mannequin in the store with amazement.  

Of the top 10 rentals for summer, this one was rented 18.3% of the time!
